John Strutz who murdered his wife and dismembered her body was given the maximum sentence Tuesday.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge John West gave out the sentence of 26 years to life in prison for 31-year-old John Strutz around 9:30 a.m.

Strutz is convicted of murdering his wife, 28-year-old Kristan, and dismembering her body in August 2009.

Kristan's family has wanted to know why John killed her and where the rest of her body may be buried or hidden.

Police say they were only able to find remains of Kristan's torso and scattered body parts in garbage cans around the Strutz home in Delhi when they investigated the murder last August.

Strutz's defense repeatedly denied having any involvement to the murder of his wife and to the discovery of parts of her body around the Strutz home. Strutz instead pointed to a mysterious blonde woman that he saw outside of his house.

Strutz was sentenced by a judge because he waived his right to a jury trial.
